Home Painting Services Website Redesign

Project Details

Project Overview

A home painting company approached me after realizing their website was doing the opposite of what it should. Instead of attracting new customers, it was pushing potential clients away.

The website looked unfinished, confusing, and lacked the essential elements needed to build trust with homeowners looking for professional painting services.

My goal was simple: transform the site into a clean, professional, and high-converting website that clearly communicates the company’s value and encourages visitors to request a quote.

Challenges

When I first audited the website, several major issues immediately stood out.

The hero section, which is one of the most important parts of any website, was completely broken. Instead of displaying a slider with images, the page showed a RevSlider shortcode, making the site look unfinished and unprofessional.

The structure of the website was also confusing. Visitors could only access two visible pages — the homepage and contact page. However, when I checked the sitemap, I discovered several other pages that were technically live but hidden from navigation.

These pages contained dummy text and placeholder images, which is a serious problem for any service business trying to build credibility.

Key issues included:

  • The Our Company page contained placeholder text instead of real company information.

  • The Our Work page showed dummy images rather than actual project photos.

  • The homepage layout was cluttered and poorly structured, making it difficult for visitors to understand the services offered.

  • The contact form did not have spam protection, leaving it vulnerable to automated submissions.

  • Important trust elements such as testimonials, guarantees, and clear calls to action were missing.

For a local service business like a painting contractor, these issues can significantly damage credibility and lead to lost opportunities.

The Core Problems

After completing a full audit, the main issues could be summarized into three categories:

1. Broken User Experience

Critical elements like the hero slider were not functioning. Visitors landing on the homepage were greeted by technical code instead of a professional introduction to the business.

2. Lack of Trust and Credibility

Pages that should build trust, such as Our Company and Our Work, were filled with placeholder content. This sends a strong negative signal to potential clients who are evaluating the company.

3. Poor Conversion Structure

The website lacked key conversion elements such as:

  • Clear calls to action

  • Testimonials

  • Frequently asked questions

  • Service explanations

  • Lead capture forms

Without these components, visitors had little motivation to take action.

Key Realizations

During the redesign process, several insights became clear.

Many pages existed but were never fully developed. These included:

  • Sample Page

  • What We Offer

  • Work

Although these pages were technically published, they provided no real value to visitors because they contained placeholder content.

Instead of deleting them, I used them as the foundation for a more structured and conversion-focused website architecture.

Objectives

The primary objective was to redesign the website with conversion in mind.

The goals included:

Ultimately, the website needed to become a lead generation tool, not just an online brochure.

The Process

1. Website Structure Redesign

I began by restructuring the entire site to ensure visitors could easily navigate and find the information they need.

New and improved pages included:

Each page was designed with a clear purpose in the customer journey.

2. High-Conversion Homepage Design

The homepage was completely rebuilt to guide visitors toward requesting a quote.

Key sections added:

This structure ensures visitors quickly understand the service and feel confident reaching out.

3. Real Content Instead of Placeholder Content

All pages were rewritten with real, meaningful content.

This included:

Replacing dummy content with real content significantly improved the company’s credibility.

4. SEO-Focused Service Pages

Each service was given its own dedicated page with location references to improve visibility in local search results.

This helps the website rank for searches such as:

These pages also provide more opportunities for potential clients to discover the business online.

5. Improved Contact and Lead Capture

The contact page and forms were upgraded with:

This ensures the company receives legitimate inquiries while reducing spam submissions.

Results

The redesign transformed the website from a broken and incomplete online presence into a professional, conversion-focused website.

Key improvements included:

Most importantly, the website now functions as it should: a tool that builds trust and encourages potential clients to request a quote.
